Wimbledon
The Ralph Way

There’s no shortage of style at the most elegant of all the Grand Slams, especially in Polo’s Centre Court suite
Wimbledon is renowned for many reasons. It’s the oldest tennis tournament in the world, and its many rules and traditions help to preserve a prestige and charm unlike anywhere else. The event’s notoriously strict dress code—head-to-toe white for the players; ties and jacket, dresses and hats, for the Royal Box—also shapes an atmosphere, both on the grass and among the spectators roaming Henman Hill, that is unique in all of sports. That’s where Ralph Lauren comes in. The company has partnered with Wimbledon since 2006, designing the tournament’s uniforms for judges and BBGs (ball boys and girls). The sharp silhouettes in the umpire’s chair mirror the impeccable aesthetic of the gardenlike grounds, where the grass courts are cut to a height of 8 millimeters and the balls have been provided by Slazenger since 1902. Ralph Lauren has also helped redefine the spirit of Wimbledon’s modern-day spectator style. Up in the Ralph Lauren suite, guests mingle amongst a classic green-and-white décor, done up in ticking stripes and finished with arrangements of white English roses. Come afternoon tea, cucumber sandwiches, scones, and strawberries and cream are always at the ready. It’s the perfect setting to wear many of Ralph’s most iconic looks. Suits in summer-weave British tweeds or cream monochrome; bold pinstripes; double-breasted navy blazers; all-white tea-length dresses and skirts; romantic details; and a sea of blue-and-white stripes. They’re all here, ready for some of Wimbledon’s most notable guests to wear, as they spend the afternoon in the hush and roar of head-swiveling action.
