Sam Suriakumar

Sam Suriakumar is a husband, father of two, and brain cancer patient whose inoperable diffuse brain tumor has remained stable following treatment at The Royal Marsden. Since his diagnosis in 2020, Sam has become a passionate advocate, sharing his story to encourage other patients and their families

Through his ongoing partnership with Ralph Lauren and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, he continues to bring hope and visibility to the cancer community.

Ash Foo

Ash Foo is a model, cancer survivor, and returning member of Pink Pony. After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer at just 23, Ash turned her experience into a call for greater awareness and early action.

Ash returns to share her story once again, using her voice and her platform to inspire others to champion their health and live fully, confidently, and on their own terms.

Cade Thompson

Cade Thompson is a model, basketball player, cancer survivor, and returning member of Pink Pony.

After experiencing persistent leg pain at age 15 that he initially dismissed as growing pains, Cade was diagnosed with hybrid osteosarcoma and underwent 29 rounds of chemotherapy and a 15-hour surgery.

Today, he encourages young people to champion their health through early detection, regular screenings, and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.

Saffron Vadher

Saffron Vadher was diagnosed with leukemia just before her fourth birthday, after persistent stomach aches and unexplained bruising. She underwent several years of intensive chemotherapy and entered remission shortly after her seventh birthday.

While the intensity of her treatment led to some health challenges throughout her childhood, she has remained in remission ever since. Today, she works with a leukemia charity in London and is also writing a children’s book.

Chad Palumbo

A Princeton lacrosse player, cancer survivor, and returning member of Pink Pony, Chad Palumbo faced a rare cancer diagnosis at 18 that forever changed his outlook on life.

After overcoming treatment and returning to the field, he has become a powerful example of resilience, using his experience to remind others that every day is a gift and that hope can carry us through even the hardest moments.

Marko Manojlovic

Diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma at 18, Marko Manojlovic underwent a year of chemotherapy before entering remission. Five years later, his cancer returned in a more severe and complicated form. He underwent intensive chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant.

While his experience was deeply challenging, it ultimately gave him a new perspective on life, gratitude, and the power of community. Throughout his journey, he discovered new connections, resources, and opportunities that continue to shape who he is today.

Dr. Chanita Hughes-Halbert, Ph.D.

A nationally recognized leader in cancer prevention and health equity, Dr. Chanita Hughes-Halbert has dedicated her career to expanding access to cancer prevention, screening, and care for underserved communities. As Director of the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention and Associate Director of Cancer Health Disparities at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, she works to reduce disparities and improve outcomes through research, education, and advocacy.

Dr. Harold Freeman,
Founder and Chairman Emeritus of MSK Ralph Lauren Center

Dr. Harold Freeman, known as the “father of patient navigation,” was a world-renowned cancer surgeon with an extraordinary career in advocating for and advancing access to equitable health care. He is widely recognized for his extensive work in pioneering the patient-navigation model, created to address disparities in access to timely diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Freeman held numerous roles over his lifetime, including the Director of Surgery at Harlem Hospital, founding Director of the National Cancer Institute’s Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities, and former President of the American Cancer Society. In 2003, he became the cofounder of our first center: Ralph Lauren’s Center for Cancer Care in Harlem in New York City, which later became the Memorial Sloan Kettering Ralph Lauren Center in 2019. Beyond these remarkable accomplishments, Dr. Freeman’s compassion, vision, and unwavering commitment to underserved communities has left a lasting mark on generations of clinicians, leaders, and patients.

Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research

Ralph Lauren cofounded the Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in honor of his close friend and Washington Post fashion editor, Nina Hyde

1994

Fashion for a Cause

Ralph Lauren designed the first logo for the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer initiative, leading the fashion industry in its support of breast cancer research

2000

Pink Pony Launches

The Ralph Lauren Corporation launched the first-ever Pink Pony Campaign, a global initiative in the fight against cancer, with a pink version of its Polo Pony icon

2003

Ralph Lauren Center in Harlem

Ralph Lauren, in partnership with the nation’s leading cancer center, Memorial Sloan Kettering, opened the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care in Harlem. It is later officially incorporated into MSK, becoming the Memorial Sloan Kettering Ralph Lauren Center

2016

Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research

Ralph Lauren Corporation partnered with The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity to support The Royal Marsden, the largest and most comprehensive cancer center in Europe. In May 2016, a world-class research facility, the Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research, opened at The Royal Marsden, Chelsea

2019

Ralph Lauren Research Wing at The Royal Marsden

Ralph Lauren Corporation pledged £1 million to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity to establish the Ralph Lauren Research Wing within a state-of-the-art facility, which opened in Sutton, England, in 2023

2020

RL Gives Back

We worked with our long-standing network of international cancer institutions to support those especially vulnerable to COVID-19. We provided donations, meals, and products to frontline workers, families in need, and patients fighting cancer

Located inside the state-of-the-art Oak Cancer Centre, funded by The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, the Ralph Lauren Research Wing houses more than 150 researchers working across different cancer types, who carry out life-saving work to benefit cancer patients worldwide

UChicago Medicine Ralph Lauren Center at the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center

The Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation awarded a grant to the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center to establish the UChicago Medicine Ralph Lauren Center, the fourth center in the United States

The Ralph Lauren Center for Patient and Family Recovery at the National Cancer Center of Korea

Ralph Lauren announced a partnership with the Korea National Cancer Center Foundation to establish The Ralph Lauren Center for Patient and Family Recovery at the National Cancer Center of Korea in Goyang, South Korea, with the company’s first cancer center in Asia expected to open in 2028
