The View From Paris

A personal, collected sense of style comes together in the women’s Polo Spring 2027 collection, presented at Paris Fashion Week.
By Shannon Adducci
It’s late morning in Paris. The skies are clear; the air has just the slightest hint of a crisp autumn shift on the way. On a tiny street in the 7th arrondissement, a trio of young women in denim, white button-down shirts, and blue-and-red repp ties run to order coffees. Their ensembles are a coincidence—but also maybe a harbinger—of the fact that just around the corner, the women’s Polo Spring 2027 collection is about to take place. Inside a rough-hewn space with exposed beams and raised platforms surrounded by tall, wild grasses and blue wicker benches, models roam about, rehearsing the walk-through presentation that will take place later in the day.

How can Polo possibly improve upon its many classics (those menswear-inspired oxford shirts and repp ties, but also the Polo shirts, leather jackets, and cable knits) that are already beloved and worn by so many? The answer might be this—in a sense of longing for something tangible and personal; something that announces a life lived by experience in the world, not likes on a screen. This was the style philosophy that soon after came into view at Polo’s presentation at Paris Fashion Week. Inspired by a spirit of travel, adventure, and curiosity, the collection explores how handcrafted, treasured details can provide a new lens on timeless classics. This Polo woman dresses—as she always has dressed—with instinct, gathering inspiration from places and experiences, exuding a lived-in personal style that is collected, not overly curated. The notion that stumbled-upon things can find harmony through a creative, thrown-together sensibility is brought out in finely crafted details. A sleeveless crewneck dress in a classic cable knit is finished with a crochet detailing, each motif hand-placed, layered, and stitched together in ruffled panels. A cotton windbreaker jacket (a new-old classic that has become one of Polo’s easiest-to-style pieces) makes a bold return with a hand-embellished collar packed full of shells, beads, and found objects, all layered together as a one-of-a-kind-treasure that happens to also be incredibly casual, sporty, and versatile.

Inspired by the spirit of travel, adventure, and curiosity, the collection explores an eclectic sophistication.
The Spring 2027 collection presentation also debuted jewelry with Piki Wadsworth, a second-generation Diné and Hopi jewelry artist who is the latest to join Ralph Lauren’s Authentic Makers program. Working with a refined palette of shells and stones, including turquoise and lapis, she uses time-honored techniques to shape, cut, drill, and polish each material by hand. Standouts include hand-cut pieces of melon shell, spiny oyster, and Sleeping Beauty turquoise (the stone’s rarest variety) on sweeping statement necklaces, and a series of drop earrings made of conch shell, lapis lazuli, and gaspéite, a lime-green gemstone.

The collection also explored how classics might be restyled with an appetite for a little free-spirited fun. The iconic Polo shirt has been given dual proportions for the season; one, a menswear version that demonstrates how slightly skewed collars, longer sleeve lengths, and tucking can give a new shape to oversize styling. In another look, shrunken Polos are layered atop each other in contrasting hues with rolled sleeves—perhaps a nod to both the past and future of how women will wear this icon. Tailored updates also explore new proportions: a more fitted jacket shape, regardless of its length (options are done in both cropped and intriguingly elongated styles); plus, new takes on the seasonal linen trouser, including Polo’s hit wrap pant. Dresses are effortlessly dramatic but uncomplicated; with interesting silhouettes that provide a blank canvas for personal jewelry.
The accessories are as vibrant as the ready-to-wear. A new sleek Polo Blaze shoulder bag with a chain-link strap brings modern elegance, while a new oversize version of the Polo ID’s crescent shape is both casual and directional in a woven twill with a slight sheen. Colorful raffia totes feature a punchy “Polo” woven logo, and the Polo Play’s easy canvas styles come in classic stripes and cleverly beaded embroidery on a cheerful pineapple-patterned print that is also done on the dust bags, which can be cleverly repurposed as pouches that loosely tie up at the ends. New colorways of this fall’s bow-accented loafer with contrast piping add to allover color-blocking, and the styling choice to add socks to sandals comes from vintage photos of Ralph and Ricky, spending summers out east.
Accessories and bags are fundamental to the spirit of self-expression.
Come next spring, when Spring 2027 begins to show up in stores, the collection’s vast array of artful details will convey an even bigger message—that clothes like this, in their own small way, can add a shot of much-needed joy, spontaneity, and self-expression to that daily moment in front of the mirror. It’ll remind you of the adventure that personal style ought to be—especially when it brings together unusual pieces that remind you of where you’ve been and where you might be going.
